What It Is: MapMyRide is a fitness tracking application that enables you to use the built-in GPS of your mobile device to track all of your cycling activities. You can record your workout details, including duration, distance, pace, speed, elevation, calories burned, and route traveled on an interactive map. You can also easily save and upload your workout data to the MapMyRide online service so you can view your routes, stats, and comprehensive workout history over time. MapMyRide is available on iOS and Android.
Why We Like It: This is a great bicycling app for average cyclists. It’s easy to use, and you can create and save routes to track and compare your times. It also has a social media component where you can add friends and update/share your workouts.
We’ve tried a couple of online route creation and sharing services and most come up short in their ability to easily turn your route idea into a usable route map. MayMyRide has solved that problem, with a set of excellent route creation tools that make route creation, quick, easy, and useful. You can also search rides and route maps that other cyclists have made public. There are thousands of routes in a robust database to choose from.
The free service offers online route planning, mapping, sharing and it includes unlimited routes, workout tracking, and a calendar feature, which is sufficient for an average rider. More advanced cyclists might want to upgrade to the paid service which includes map and cue sheet printing, training plans, fitness reports, and more. There are also additional versions of the app available for runners, walkers, hikers, and triathletes. Check out MapMyRide.
