What It Is: The Bumbo Floor Seat enables your baby to maintain a sitting position on the floor, which in turn allows you to feed, read to, or play with your baby more easily since your hands are free. The Bumbo seat is designed for use only after your baby can support his or her head.
Why We Like It: We found this to be a good first seat for baby. It keeps them supported and gives them an improved field of vision while you feed or play with your child. For babies that have issues with acid reflux, the seat helps them stay upright after feeding. We used the heck out of this thing from about age 3-6 months while our little one was still learning to sit on his own. He loved it, and it made our lives a lot easier.
Another thing we love about the Bumbo is that’s it’s easy to clean. If your little one spits up or spills food, the seamless design makes it easy to wipe the mess right off. If you’re going to be in a warm climate, you might want to consider paying a little extra for the Bumbo fabric cover so that little sweaty legs don’t stick to the seat.
To be fair, we have read some online complaints about the Bumbo including stories of kids falling out of the seat and larger babies not fitting comfortably into the seat. If your baby has chubby legs, you may want to check the sizing to see if they will fit okay in a Bumbo. Also, never leave your child unattended in their Bumbo Seat and use it on the floor as it was intended to be used, not on an elevated surface. Our child is very active and never had any issues.
