What It Is: This app allows your child to watch videos from their favorite PBS television series anytime, anywhere. The app features thousands of videos from top PBS shows including Sesame Street, Curious George, Ready Jet Go!, Nature Cat, and more. The app requires Wi-Fi or 3G access.
Why We Like It: This app is great for travel or other times you need a safe, child-friendly viewing distraction for your kids. If you’re going to give them screen time, at least with PBS Kids you know the shows will be age appropriate and have an educational component to them.
Each week the app will introduce your child to a new “weekly pick” which is a set of entertaining educational videos that engages them in reading, science, math, etc. The app also comes with “Parent Resources” you can access by sliding the i-bar to the right. Parents can tap the heart to add a show to their child’s favorites list, which gives you some say in the content that they’re watching. You can also learn more about any given show that you’re not familiar with, such as the intended age and learning goals, so you can decide if it’s something you want your child to watch.
