Name of Product: The products range from chicken fries, to chicken nuggets, to chicken fillets, were sold nationwide (including at some Walmart stores) under various brand names like Farmington, Smart Foods4Schools, and Great Value between Dec. 19, 2016 and March 7, 2017. You can see a full list of recalled items here and view product labels here.
Look for establishment number “P-7092” inside the USDA mark of inspection to determine if the products you purchased for your family fall under the recall.
Remedy: If you have one of these products in your freezer, don’t eat the chicken. Return the product to the store of purchase or throw it away. Affected products are no longer available for sale, so you would have to have these in your fridge/freezer already.
Hazard: Chicken may be contaminated with metal pieces. Five complaints received so far.
Who to Contact: Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Abby Brown at (479) 312-2409. Media with questions about the recall can contact Jordan Johnson at (501) 944-7891.
If you have questions about the recall (or any food safety issue, really), the USDA suggests you to make use of its “Ask Karen” tool, a virtual FSIS representative who is available 24 hours a day at AskKaren.gov.
Details: The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced last week that Oklahoma-based OK Food, Inc is recalling nearly a million (933,272 to be exact) pounds of ready-to-eat, breaded chicken products because they may be contaminated with metal shards, which could be harmful if swallowed. Five consumer complaints have been received so far, leading to the recall. The unsavory metal pieces are believed to have originated from a conveyor belt (yuck!). To date, no injuries or “adverse reactions” have been reported as a result of consuming the potentially contaminated chicken.

Look for establishment number “P-7092” inside the USDA mark of inspection to determine if the products you purchased for your family fall under the recall. If yes, you should obviously not eat the chicken. Instead, return the product to your store of purchase or throw it away. Affected products are no longer available for sale.
