Why We Like It: While the main purpose of a booster seat is to raise your child to the correct seat belt height, we love the fact that the Graco Affix Youth Booster also uses the Latch system to secure the booster to your vehicle’s seat. It gets extra points for ease too, since any adjustments to the latching can be made easily on the front of the car seat.
This booster has done well in side impact testing. It features cushioned support on the sides of the seat to protect your child and allow for more comfortable riding. The foam used in this seat is designed to absorb energy in the event of a crash and keep your little one as safe as possible. The soft headrests makes it easier for your child to fall asleep if he or she needs to take a nap while in the seat.
Another unique perk of this seat is that it has a special storage compartment where your child can keep snacks, toys, or any other item they want handy on a car trip. This is in addition to a cup holder that keeps drinks nearby.
While the booster comes with a back that can support your child until 100 lbs. and 57 in. tall, you can remove the back once your little one passes 40 lbs. This is a great benefit that prevents you from having to buy a separate backless booster seat. (Although we recommend you keep your child in the high back seat as long as possible for safety reasons).
Additionally, you won’t have to worry about whether the seat belt is positioned correctly. The belt guide is open-loop and makes it easy to see if you’re doing it right. The padding is also all machine washable, making cleaning this seat as easy as possible.
Cons: A few parents couldn’t figure out how to adjust the Latch system correctly the first time. If you run into this problem, you can call Graco customer service for help or watch a video on YouTube demonstrating correct installation and usage.
